I`ve used Avis one time. I was surprised about the fleet which was available there at that time. my impression was that you can select at LAX any vehicle out of the Avis fleet. From luxury convertibles to economy cars, I saw all categories. Therefore if you want to get a vehicle which you couldn`t find anywhere, at LAX Avis usually should have it available. Great experience.

I have rented already several times from Avis at LAX airport. Each time I wonder which type of car I should book as anything is available there. Lots of people arriving at Los Angeles think that economy cars should be the best rental car options. The reasons are that these cars are of course fuel-efficient, rental rates are lower and the navigation in city traffic is easier than with a SUV. But I usually take the opportunity for a beautiful drive to San Diego, and then a convertible is the best choice. With a convertible I have the absolutely best ocean view. So finally the choice of your rental car finally depends on your needs.

When renting in California young driver have to take care. The normal age at which Avis rents vehicles in California is 25. For some vehicle classes drivers in the age of 21-24 can make bookings. However then they have to own an Avis-honored credit card.
They must also know that for a pickup at LAX airport they have to pay an underage surcharge fee of $27 per day.

Avis call LAX a prime location for luxury car rental. They even advertise with convertibles like the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang GT.

What about returning the car at LAX out of office hours? Do they have opened round the clock?
